The John Rex Endowment supports visible and measurable improvements in the health of children and youth by improving access to health services, by promoting healthy behaviors and by providing opportunities for growth and development. Funded projects fall into three portfolios:
The Endowment anticipates that we will release three requests for proposals (RFPs) each calendar year: Winter, Spring/Summer, and Fall. Applying for a grant in response to an RFP involves a two-step process. Grantseekers will be asked to submit a letter of intent as the first step in the application process. If the Endowment wishes to consider proposals for a full review, grantseekers will be invited to submit a full proposal as the second step in the application process. The Endowment's Health Improvement Committee reviews full proposals, after which grantseekers will be notified of the status of their review. The Health Improvement Committee then takes funding recommendations to the Board of Directors for final approval. The Endowment may also consider other proposals that fit within one of our portfolios. We welcome conversations at any time of the year regarding ideas to improve the health of Wake County children and youth. The Endowment funds government agencies and 501(c) (3) nonprofits designated as public charities and encourages proposals that reflect collaborations among organizations. The grant term and financial request should both be determined by the desired outcomes of the proposal. Grantees must submit interim and final written reports on their projects and participate in one-on-one and group meetings for mutual learning and development. For questions or to share your ideas, please contact Kate Shirah by email at kate@rexendowment.org or call 919-781-5852. |
